Valentine’s Day in the blogging world is basically an excuse for me to pair some insanely pretty products together with a bit of a pink and red theme and as it’s my last post of the week, here we are girls! Whether you love an excuse to spoil the one you love or prefer to ignore it, I think it’s safe to say we can all appreciate a good lipstick and a sexy perfume.

So first up is these two incredible new perfumes that are out next month and that I’m absolutely in love with. I’m still addicted to my Michael Kors 24K Brilliant Gold perfume (review here) so I was really, really excited to try this version – the limited edition Michael Kors Coral. It reminds me of my beloved Gold version but with a whiff of fruitiness that still manages to remain very deep and sophisticated (thanks to a mix of mandarin, blackcurrant, lemon, grapefruit pulp, jasmine tea and sandalwood). I’m not even going to pretend I sniffed this and went ‘ah yes I can detect the jasmine tea’ but what I can tell you is that this is seriously one hell of a perfume, from the packaging (digging that gold zesty bottle) to the amazing scent inside. Get sniffing this ASAP because chances are you’re going to want this instead of an Easter Egg next month. Prices start at €55 for the 30ml version and this hits Harrods on March 13th and everywhere else on March 30th.
Now you should also be aware at this stage that I have been addicted to the DKNY Be Delicious perfumes since they started coming out a whopping 10 years ago. Some incarnations are better than others but thankfully DKNY Loving Glow didn’t disappoint. I was kind of afraid the fluro packaging that’s the centre of the new Be Electric collection would house a really summery perfume that was too sickly sweet but thankfully this isn’t the case. This has a really lovely floral vibe that has grape and pineapple notes that are grounded with softer jasmine and vanilla. This means it’s a much warmer, softer scent and I actually seriously love it. There’s 3 newbies in the Be Electric collection and I’m looking forward to getting a whiff of the lot now as I’ve fallen for this so easily. These come in standard 50ml sizes for €49 and the Be Electric range will be hitting shops next month so keep an eye out!

The new Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Mascara Very Black (currently €9.99 at Boots) is the odd one out here in a pretty Valentine’s themed post but the packaging is metallic red and pink so it demanded to be included and I was happy to oblige. I was only sent this recently but I’ve been wearing it diligently in all weathers and I have a pretty good idea of how it fares. In short, if you love a plumped up lash, this is a great choice. It gives proper oomph, with a slightly chunky feel that gives big impact. It can go into tarantula legs if you go mad, but if you use a gentle hand you’ll get all the fatness without the scariness. It’s a great night-time option if you can’t be arsed messing around with false lashes for a night out but fancy something a little more dramatic than your day time mascara. It’s worth noting that this did smudge a little when I was caught in the rain but apart from that it stayed put nicely. For a tenner at the moment in Boots, it’s well worth a look if you’re as addicted to trying new mascaras as I am.

Now on to these beauties which all called out to be used and luckily are all different types of lip products to add a little variety. For the budget picks, I had to plump for my new favourite product, the Gosh Lip Oil (£7.49 sterling as this isn’t available to buy instore in Ireland). It doesn’t give oodles of colour but its oily and pretty with a little hint of a tint and great glossiness. If you’ve wanted to buy a lip oil for ages but had to fan yourself after seeing the prices of the luxury versions, definitely give this baby a go. My other purse friendly pick is one of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. The really pastel shades in this collection are quite unforgiving on my lips but the brighter and deeper the colour, the better the payoff and suddenly you’re in silky, soft town. This is weightless on the lips, incredibly smooth and non drying. Addis Ababa and is a great punchy pink and what I love about this is that it takes away the fear of wearing a big bright colour and then worrying if it’s going to smudge and betray you if you kiss or have a drink. It’s honestly an absolute steal and performs like a product way above its price of €7.75.
For the luxury buys, I have a lipstick and a lip crayon depending on what takes your fancy. The Sisley Phyto Lip Twist is one of the first Sisley products I’ve tried and instantly had brownie points for good packaging. Appropriately named Candy, this is a bright pink with a nice sheer edge that makes it a lot more wearable than it appeared to me straight away. The balm formula is soft and moisturising, as you would hope for a big chunk of change at €35. If money isn’t an object, this is fun and lovely to wear. Finally, one of my absolute favourites had to feature which is Clinique’s Poppy Pop. The Clinique Lip Pops have a kind of hypnotic power over me and this still remains my favourite shade. It’s bright and summery with the perfect poppy shade that isn’t too full on red but has a slight coral finish that just makes it perfect. It’s a stunner and well worth every cent of €19.50.
So whatever you’re up to, have a great Valentine’s Day, even if you’re ignoring it entirely. We’ll be nesting inside with a load of food and movies and our little man Oscar trying to get in the middle of us!
