Feck Winter, it’s time for Spring! Even though it’s still cold and generally shite out, in the world of beauty Spring has already sprung and we’re being pelted with gorgeous scents and sights left, right and centre. Everything on the blog this month is a new Spring release and I’m starting with some gorgeous scents in the form of delectable perfumes, body lotions and washes. Be warned, I’m rubbish at describing scents so this post may be a little painful, but hopefully the pretty pictures and my enthusiasm will make up for it!
Michael Kors Sexy Blossom // I’m beginning to have a bit of a thing for Michael Kors perfumes. There’s something about the gorgeous scents and longevity that’s winning me over every time I try one and his newest scent for Spring is bloody lovely. Kudos for the gorgeous packaging which aids a damn good looking blog photo and instantly elevates my messy makeup collection into something a little more stylish. It also smells great and is definitely floral but has a hint of fruitiness underneath (for those who actually want to know it has litchi, rose petals, dewy leaves, lily of the valley, peony, freesia, pink orchid, ambrox, sandalwood and musk). The only thing I’m not keen on is the name as I think calling a product sexy instantly makes it slightly unsexy and also guarantees I’m going to have all sorts visiting the blog on the search for a sexy something or other. Luckily this is so damn nice it gets away with it. I have to say it’s not as delectable as Glam Jasmine which is my current favourite of his, but it’s still lovely if you can afford the considerable price tag. €56-110 here
The Body Shop Almond Milk and Honey // I adore the full on fruity scents The Body Shop release in their body butters and lotions, but equally, I’m up for a softer, prettier scent which I know some of you really prefer. If so you’re in for a treat with the light, fresh scent of the Almond Milk and Honey range. The expansive range has a body butter, lotion, shower cream, soap, scrub, bath milk and hand cream, all infused with organic almond milk from Spain and Community Trade honey from the Sheka rainforest biosphere in Ethiopia. This is also geared at sensitive skin and I haven’t had a single qualm with anything despite getting pesky eczema most of the time. This is definitely worth sniffing the next time you’re passing the store. Info here
L’Occitane Terre de Lumière // The brand spanking new L’Occitane scent is a slightly more refined, classic beauty, one that I’d wear but also as easily share with my mam or aunties. It’s meant to evoke the sense of walking through Provence a the Golden Hour and it has all the warmth and beauty you’d expect. It has a wonderful mix of notes (hesperidium fruits, middle notes of honey, lavender, almond and base notes of musk and no I didn’t guess any of those myself) and although it’s pricey, this 90ml size is enormous and would last an age. It also has a lovely matching body lotion because if you’re going to treat yourself, it’s lovely to use both. Very smartly, there’s a very cute discovery set for this range that’s only €30 and comes with a 5ml perfume, 50ml shower gel and body lotion and a 30ml radiant balm which could make a nice pressie. €65-89 here
DKNY Be Tempted Eau so Blush // I’ve loved and bought the DKNY Apples since they came out donkeys ago and I’m always interested to sniff the latest incarnation so was thrilled to be sent this. This launched last month exclusively to Superdrug and is out everywhere else on March 1st. It’s a sparkly floral scent that’ll sing in warmer weather ( with pink grapefruit, blood orange, red currant, peony, jasmine, cedarwood, apricot and musk) and it is light enough to work well for day time but still good enough for night time. It’s definitely my type of scent as I love something between floral and fruit and longevity isn’t quite as good as say the other two here but is still decent enough. Sorry I’ve no Irish prices yet but Sterling prices are 30ml RRP £37 / 50ml RRP £50 / 100ml RRP £69 for when it launches in March.
Korres Lavender Blossom // Now lavender is nice but can sometimes get demoted to the ‘Nana appropriate gifts’ section pretty quickly. This new release from Korres is therefore the perfect marriage of hot young thang and lavender loveliness. It has all the wonderful lavender scent but also has a citrus underbelly that’s absolutely beautiful. It also has more than just it’s good looks and is free of silicones or parabens and is infused with Almond oil, active Aloe and provitamin B5. The shower gel (€11) is lovely to use, lathering up nicely with a fab scent and the lotion (€13.50) feels moisturising but also dries down really fast which is great in a rush. Even better, Marks and Spencers stock Korres and currently have a ‘buy 1, get 1 free’ offer on Korres on their website and instore from today until March 15th so if you feel like treating yourself, now is the time! So girls, that’s your lot! I’d love to hear what scents are currently rocking your world?
