When I first laid eyes on this, I did a bit of a Borat wa wa we wa. This is one heck of a palette girls. I’m very fussy about palettes, I love my neutrals and a few stand out shades but I pass many a palette by with just a polite glance. Palettes are expensive, they’re stuffed with colours so you need to know you’ll use them and with so many on the market, there’s a huge amount of competition. But honestly, I love this one and I think you will too.
You may have seen my review of another of Too Faced Christmas palettes, which was gorgeous although perhaps aimed at slightly younger girls, but this baby is for the grown ups. The size of a good hardback book, this palette opens to reveal 15 good sized eyeshadows with a lovely mix of matte, shimmer and glitter shades, all with some much appreciated Christmas names to get you in the mood. On top of that, you get a full size Lashgasm mascara and a handy guide on one side to help you create three signature looks with the palette before you start experimenting yourself.
On first inspection, the colours jump out of the palette, they look rich, pigmented and really high quality. But when I swatched them all for photos, I really fell in love. The beauty of these is too hard to capture in crap Autumn light on my arm, but you need to trust me here, these are simply stunning. Kudos to the mascara included as well, it has tiny bristles which maybe don’t fatten your lashes but add loads of volume without the slightest clump. You can see it in action in the photo at the end of the post!
Apart from one shade, Prancer, which seemed to have some fallout when swatched, all these shades are buttery soft, jam packed with colour and really beautifully formulated, especially in the satin shades. The mix of shades is just perfect, there’s easily enough here to create day looks to night looks and everything in between depending on your mood and this manages to please netural lovers and colour lovers alike with it’s clever mix of colours. Joy is probably the only colour in this palette that won’t get much love from me, but every other shade will.
In short, I love this, I think it’s hands down one of the stand out palettes out this season and I’ll only worry more girls won’t know about it because there’s only one Too Faced stand in Liffey Valley. Too Faced are online though, and hopefully with a load of reviews you’ll get an idea of how great this palette this. I’d really, really urge you to try it if you’re in the market for something a little festive, it’s a total winner.
The only downside here is of course, a palette will cost you more, and this one is €47.60. Not cheap, but there’s a lot in the palette to love. If you’re tempted, you can get this baby on Beauty Bay here
So girls, is this palette a winner for you?
