I love my sleep and I love being cuddled up in bed but I’m a notoriously light sleeper and I don’t think I’ve ever gone to sleep and slept uninterrupted until the next morning, it just doesn’t happen for me. My fiance and I are usually both really sleepy by bed time as we tend to stay up late but whereas he’s able to nod off within literally two or three minutes, I find I’m up for ages before I can go to sleep and I find it quite hard to just switch off. This all leads me to the new new products I was sent a few week’s back from Neal’s Yard and how really wonderful I’m finding them for helping me unwind at the end of the day.
Neal’s Yard are organic, cruelty free and hands down some of the most beautifully scented products I’ve ever had the pleasure to use. I was sent two products, the classic Wild Rose Beauty Balm and the Beauty Sleep Serum.
Housed in heavy glass packaging, before you even open these up, you know they’re going to be special. The Wild Rose Beauty Balm is a thick, butter coloured balm that on first inspection, looks like you’ll get through the jar in a flash, but it’s thickness means you only need a small amount each time so this will in fact last ages. You also get the jar wrapped with a lovely muslin cloth to use as well which is a nice touch. The smell from the balm is simply heavenly, a fusion of heady lavender which even from one sniff, relaxed my mind and body. This is one of those iconic multi-purpose products and can be used as an all over cleanser, as a face mask or as an intensive moisturiser on areas of real dryness.
I’ve been using this every couple of nights and it’s warming and relaxing as soon as you rub it into your skin and leaves skin feeling nourished and soft while seriously relaxing you with it’s beautiful scent at the same time. I’m always careful when recommending higher priced products as, although I was lucky enough to be sent it, a product like this would otherwise be a big splurge for me at €48, but honestly, it’s quality is worth every penny and the jar used a couple of times a week would easily last months.
So after using that before bed, I’ve been rubbing in their Beauty Sleep Serum (€41.20) which has been formulated to aid’s skin regeneration overnight, combat wrinkles and basically make you konk out once you put it on. It has a different scent to the Wild Rose balm as this time the serum is infused with Clary Sage, Cypress and Narcissus but it’s equally intoxicating. This is meant to be used in conjunction with your normal serum or moisturising routine and I’ve been using a few pumps each night all over my face and down my neck. This definitely makes my skin feel soft and supple without a trace of greasiness and my skin feels and looks softer since I’ve been using the duo.
Frankly, when you use either, they immediately seem to tell your body clock it’s bed time and literally within 30 seconds of using both, I’m ready for my leaba. They completely wind me down and lull me to sleep and for the relaxation alone, I’m finding them a brilliant new step in my night time routine. As products on their own merits, they’re both beautiful, but the heady aroma aids a whole new dimension that makes it feel like you’re having a mini spa routine at home. It’s safe to say these would be beautiful for anyone at Christmas or just for yourself as a lovely treat.
