eye palettes 2013

One of my absolute favourite things to see a sparkling new eye palette, tempting me with a range of beautiful shades. I’m quite picky with eyeshadows so there’s usually only one or two a year that really set my pulse racing but that clearly isn’t the case this year. I nearly always have one set aside for my letter to Santa but I feel a bit bamboozled by palettes in the past few weeks, there’s so many great ones coming out that now I’m a bit flummoxed as which is best!

Help me choose girls!

NARS Ride up to the Moon – Golds and greens are some of the most sumptuous eye colours and when you pair that with one of my favourite cruelty free brands I’m on to a complete winner.

NARS Fairy’s Kiss – Ah yes another NARS palette but the companion to Ride up to the Moon is simply too pretty to overlook.

Clarin’s Essential Eye Palette – You can’t deny Clarins have brought out a complete winner with their stunning new eye palette which rounds off an amazing year for the brand. I really, really want this as it has a lovely Naked palette feel but it isn’t so similar it’s redundant. There’s excellent swatches here if you’re interested!

Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette – I really love the mix of matte and shimmer shades of this palette in a mix of cool and warmer tones. Temptalia has a great review of this palette which makes me want it even more!

Urban Decay Naked 3 – Is it a beautiful hoax or are the few leaked photos online really of the brand new Urban Decay Naked 3 palette? Well having spoken with their PR, it’s on the cards this year girls and as it’s November, that means we don’t have long to wait! People are already divided about whether this palette is too similar to it’s predecessors to be a must-have, but personally I can’t wait to see it!

Full Exposure Palette – Finally, Smashbox refuse to sit quietly and have a beautiful new palette coming out that will actually hit stores after Christmas so this is one to keep in mind when you get some vouchers for Christmas or maybe a few quid if you’re lucky! It’s a big palette with a lot of gorgeous contrasting matte and shimmer shades and I’ll definitely be swatching this bad boy in January!

So what do you think girls, have I missed any palettes I need to add to the list or are any of these making your currently drool over your keyboard or phone?

  • Rachael Stewart

The Clarins Essential Eye palette or Urban Decay Naked 3 would be my picks..but the Nars Fairy Kiss palette also looks beautiful too.. Oh its so difficult to decided, I just want them all!! xx

    • Makeup Monster

I know me too, that’s the problem!:)

  • Niamh

Since I have resisted buying any of them before, I will have to say the Naked 3, but the Clarins Palette looks amazing too.

    • Makeup Monster

Yep it’s very hard to choose! The Clarins one and Naked 3 don’t look that dissimilar!

  • Not_Just_Inside

I will defo be buying the Naked 3, there is WAY to much hype surrounding it, but ill get it anyway so I don’t feel left out.

    • Makeup Monster

I loved those types of shades so it’ll be REALLY hard to resist!

  • sempresorres

It’s the Laura Mercier for me (Vintage or Tacky gave the Laura Mercier palette a great review also)

    • Makeup Monster

Ah brill must check it out!

  • Nida Moughal

Full Exposure or Nars Ride up to the moon both are beautiful.

    • Makeup Monster

Totally agree, the NARS one really is something special!

  • BelleBeautyGlam

Oh wow, naked three, teamed with one and two, endless possibilities!!

    • Makeup Monster

      I know, neutral paradise!!

  • Katie Allen

I would be happy with any of these palettes!

    • Makeup Monster

      Haha me too!

  • Eimear Byrne

Smashbox and Clarins are a must for me!

    • Makeup Monster

      Great choices!

  • Megan Daly

Smashbox and the Naked 3. I know it’s going to be really similar, but I still can’t wait :D

    • Makeup Monster

      I know me too:)

  • Andreea

Smashbox and Naked 3 for sure, heck ill even trow in a Naked 2…never had it before

    • Makeup Monster

Ohh Naked 2 is lovely, I get a lot of use out of it so will be interested to see how similar 3 is!!

  • Makeup Monster

    It’s definitely true!:)

  • Makeup Monster

Oh interesting to know! Was it the above Clarins palette? What wasn’t so great about it?

    • AgentSmyth

Yeah Clarins Essentials! It is a beautiful palette don’t get me wrong, but nowhere near as pigmented as my Nars ones and the pale colours seem to blend together a little too well to just create an all over colour. I’m glad I bought it though, just sad I missed out on the BB one x

  • Makeup Monster

Good to know I still haven’t seen the Clarins palette up close yet!

  • MakeupOverMind

I haven’t much interest in the Naked3 tbh, having 1, 2, & the basics palette! I’ve only ever owned one NARS shadow and the quality isn’t amazing so I think the Clarins or LM would be my top picks! I also prefer the colours of them generally and I’ve heard the formula of the Clarins one is amazing! :)

    • Makeup Monster

I have the same from Urban Decay I just love the formulations so much I know I’ll be tempted by this!:)

  • Miss Green Eyes

I’ve been drooling over the Clarins but now the more I see it the more I realize the half of the colours wouldn’t suit me! I also love the look of the Bobbi Brown chocolate one but I’ve heard so many bad reviews. From your picks I think I like the top NARS one best, I’d use all those shades. From other palettes I’m just going to get another MUA one to take the want off ;-)

    • Makeup Monster

MUA are great for satisfying an urge for a new palette! Yep have read a lot of woeful reviews of the Bobbi Brown palette which is a huge shame!

  • Makeup Monster

Haha yeah Fairy’s Kiss is very very pretty!

  • Claire Kane

Call me a cheapskate but I am happy in my nappy* with MUA’s pallettes. They are great quality, so much cheaper and they’re not peddling the same one every Christmas (I’m looking at you, Urban Decay)

  • Beauty Bird

I would love the Clarins eye palette! It’s gorgeous and tempting me more than the Naked palette right now! xx

    • Makeup Monster

It looks like a beaut for sure!

  • Kaelyn

I own both the Naked and the Naked 2, and love them both. I am very torn on the 3rd one… I think it will have to be a palette a swatch before I buy.The Laura Mercier and the NARS palettes look absolutely delightful!

    • Makeup Monster

Definitely agree I’ll be swatching the Naked 3 before I even consider buying it!

  • Ah Sure Tis Lovely

They’re all so beautiful, but I think the Clarins one tips it for me. I know I don’t “need” it but I really do want it.

  • Emma

I can’t wait for Naked 3! I know I’ll end up getting it! I use my other two almost every day, it’s such good value for money!! The Clarins and Laura Mercier ones are close second and third!

    Emma x

  • Alex

I love the clarins palette, pretty good price too :)

  • nikyrose

I love all kind of makeup palette. For natural tones so far I have UD NAKED 1 and the colors kinda shimmery which I don’t really use it much for my daily ‘bareface’ look and plus the NAKED 1 colors wasn’t that show off enough when I applied it on my skin( I’m Asian with fair-yellowish skin tone) I’m pretty not sure if any others facing this prob as much as I am but anyway, I am kinda interested to get UD NAKED 3 (wanna give a try on rosy tone of it ) or Smashbox Full Exposure(more mattes and half shimmery palette)
But to get UD NAKED 3 make me have a doubt IF I am not using it much and will end up like my NAKED 1 because anyways for the moment I have Vice palette(colorful palette) ,smashbox shades of fame ( I love this so much perfect colors!) , and some of toofaced eyeshadows as well as UD Glinda palette. I am kinda in dilemma much ? Or else I will just get Inglot eye palette and mix and match ! I had tried to google out NAKED 3 VS FULL EXPOSURE for the review but the result none of it.
Anyway, this is a very good review by you and I like it. Thanks.
