I’m a sucker for illuminating powders and have far too many in my collection. Luckily, this means I’ll soon be doing a comprehensive illuminators post but for today, it’s all about a new edition, Bourjois Java Rice Powder.
I swatched this in store a few weeks back and quickly dismissed it, but after reading a plethora of good reviews, including from the very reliable Viva Adonis girlies I was intrigued, so my lovely fiance grabbed this in Boots Liffey Valley for me.
Firstly this is much smaller than I was expecting, but since it’s a highlighter primarily that’s understandable. Inside the cute retro packaging you get a nice swivel sifter which means you’re not going to waste product or make a mess, a simple but much appreciated packaging move. The powder itself is a very pretty rosy pink sprinkled with micro glitter and has a strong but not unpleasant scent similar to the Bourjois blushers. This doesn’t bother me but I know some of you are sensitive to scented face products so it’s something to note.
As a rampant buyer of luminising powders, I’m a tough customer but I have to say this illuminating powder passed with flying colours. It could easily be a high end product with it’s beautiful sheer finish that’s extremely minimal on glitter so you get a more natural radiance. This was great on my pale skin and the rosy pink shade should be universally flattering. This has a wee whiff of Guerlain Meteorites Perles about it (in that it offers no coverage of any sort and a shot of pure radiance in a flattering shade) and if you’re on a budget, this is a great option for a beautiful highlighter to see you through the colder months and beyond.
If you fancy a little extra shine in your day, this can be bought from Bourjois stands nationwide or from Boots.ie here for €13.99
