ARTDECO are a brand that have hugely grown on me over the past year or so and every collection seems better than the last. From collaborations with the beautiful Dita Von Teese focusing on grown up glamour to other bold and bright collections, they’re not afraid to experiment and I think they excel at glamorous, decadent style products.
Their brand new collection stays firmly in the vibe of Dita and that’s no bad thing. Everything has a vintage, sumptous vibe aimed firmly at the Christmas market, from the entricately embossed highlighters, powders and eyeshadows to the berry shaded lipsticks and sparkling lip glosses. So here’s the lowdown on their latest pieces and how I really found them.
Well, straight off, this is a big Christmas collection, dusted with glitter and glam at every turn. The powder (€30.85), illuminating fluid (€ 21.50) (€19.00) and lipstick are all lovely products, well made and easy to love. The illuminating fluid in a pump bottle is a really easy way to mix a little radiance into your look and I’ll definitely get good use from it. You can also always rely on ARTDECO lipsticks as being some of the nicest on the market and unsurprisingly I loved this one and it’s beautiful packaging.
On the other hand, the highlighter(€30.85) is unusual as it’s made up of a cream and two contrasting brown shades so it ends up a glittery taupe shade far too dark for me to use at all. It would suit much darker skin tones, although I did find nice use for it as an eyeshadow, but it had some wicked glitter fall out. The shimmer cream (€12.20) again is full of glitter although in a cream formula it has much more staying power. Still it wouldn’t be something I’d really use but for night’s out a little on the lid could look very pretty. The lipgloss (€16.00) is also stuffed with festive glitter and as I have a real soft spot for ARTDECO glosses, I was a little disappointed this had so much glitter through it. Still that’s a personal preference and I can’t fault it’s prettiness or all round Christmas feel.
All in all, I felt a little torn by this collection, it’s beautiful to look at and I can’t fault the care and thought put into it, it just has a wee bit too much glitter for me personally. Again, it has a Christmas party vibe when glitter and shine seem to work best so I could easily imagine it making a beautiful Christmas look for a party. I’d definitely recommend you check this out on the ARTDECO stand to view them in all their glory and make up your own mind and you can see a load of pictures and some swatches below for reference!
So girls, are you digging this collection and have you ever tried ARTDECO?
