As you may know, I gave a glowing review to Guerlain’s Meteorites just two weeks ago so you may wonder why I am suddenly sporting the pressed version! Basically I adored the loose version but it’s bulky and I wanted a smaller palette I could keep in my handbag. Luckily, a very eager buyer was at hand (thank you Sarah!) so yesterday morning I wandered excitedly into Arnotts to buy the pressed version and keep that magic radiant touch in my life!
So with a big smile on my face I marched up to the till with the compact in hand and was promptly told the total was €145. I laughed assuming it meant €45 but no, the little unassuming palette was three times the price of a similar loose version I’d bought. I dutifully balked and went a little red and explained how there was no way I could pay that money in good conscience and was ready to walk away utterly dejected. I was in luck though when the girl very kindly did some rooting around and took out all the Meteorites products and went through the prices with me. It was only when she took out the same €145 product, but as a refill version, that I realised I could have the product I wanted, but now for just under €40. Result!
Now the compromise is that there is no compact at all, only a plastic cover over the circular palette and the slim cardboard box to hold it in. That doesn’t bother me in the slightest as it’s the product that’s magic. not the fancy palette. But this does lead to the point, that I would have been paying over €100 for a holder for the makeup, an unbelievable fact to me. This was an eye opener and I had to share it with you lovely readers in case any of you are interested in the fabulous Meteorites range but feel completely alienated by the price tag.
I’m delighted with my purchase and, true to form, this beautiful palette is a wonder and imparts the same gorgeous touch of radiance as the loose pearl version, albeit slightly more glowly and less sparkly. This can now slip seamlessly into the smallest of handbags and will always be close to hand when I need an added touch of luminescence. I adore this product and if you want this in your life, now to know how to get it for cheaper!
If you’re interested in the Guerlain range, you can visit their stands in Arnotts or Debenhams or visit Debenhams online.
Are you as surprised as I am by the huge price difference with this product? Would you buy the refill? Share your thoughts!
