I always wear face powder but with the long months of Winter nearing an end I decided I wanted to try out a product that wasn’t quite so matte but instead gave a radiant look. There were a few contenders in the running, but the competition promptly stopped when I came across the endless flurry of overwhelmingly postitive reviews about Guerlain’s Meteorites Perles. I knew then I HAD to have it in my life, even if it was an eye watering €47. Luckily my One4All voucher came to the rescue so I felt it was the perfect time to treat myself and see if it really was a wonder product.
So off into Debenhams on Henry St. I trotted, where I met the very helpful and lovely Liudmila who was a delight to talk to and who also sorted me out with some beautiful samples, including the brand spanking new Guerlain mascara which I’ll be reviewing shortly!
So enough chat, more details!
Firstly, the packaging is beautiful, so much so that it would be a shame to throw it out whenever you finished the product. Inside the delicate tin is housed a pot of beautiful iridescent balls. The coloured perles serve different purposes – white for illuminating the skin, gold for radiance, green to counteract redness, mauve to reflect light and pink to even your skintone. The packaging and the perles themselves are so pretty to behold I was already won over but after all the hype, all that mattered was that it performed.
And I can now give you a resounding yes, because it really does. What looks a little bright and garish when you swatch with your hands becomes the lightest reflecting touch on the skin. The effect is subtle and yet it enhances and brightens beautifully. It’s the type of product that just makes you look a little more radiant but without dousing you in glitter and shimmer until you’re more robot than woman. This isn’t a highlighter, it’s a full face powder, but one that enhances radiance rather than tackles shine. I actually use this with a little of my regular powder underneath to tackle shine and then finish with this for the perfect finishing touch which would bring back the natural luminosity that normal powders tend to illiminate. My skin is, dare I say it, transformed now from using this! It’s hard to capture it’s beauty in a photo in dull light but hopefully you can see it up close below.
Guerlain Meteorities are available from Debenhams instore and online.
So readers, would you spend this much on a powder that promises more radiant skin? Is there any product you use that give you the skin you always dreamt of? Share your thoughts!
