So take a deep breath and dive into the comprehensive list below to find out what products Irish beauty bloggers are raving about when it comes to out eyes!
Best eyeshadow (in single or palette form)
Makeup Monster: I have to hand it to Urban Decay, some may think they’re overrated but I think they’re consistently brilliant for all things eye related! And a very honourable mention goes to Nars which I love!
Fluff & Fripperies: Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill or Chanel Illusion D’Ombre – both exceptional in every way!
Too Many Muffins: Inglots eyeshadows. Great pigmentation, colour selection and price.
Girl Friday: It won’t be a surprise to anyone when I say Inglots Freedom Palettes are my absolute favourite eyeshadow palettes. They’re affordable, customisable and amazing quality so I’ve invested in a few of them in 2012.
Princess Watshername: Catrice matte eyeshadows because they have great neutral colours and are very pigmented for the price esp starlight expresso because it’s the PERFECT contour shade.
Robyn Rants: Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes – The easiest palette to use for someone in a hurry. A couple of sweeps of a brush and you’re done.
Glamour Nazi: Inglot’s eyeshadows offer the best pigmentation, blendability and staying power I’ve ever tried, in an array of over two hundred shades. You build your own palette so you’ll never get a shade you dislike and the price is a fraction of most big brands. Perfection.
Rara Giggle: Any of the new formula shadows from Urban Decay – butter smooth and SUPER pigmented.
Your Beauty: Naked 1 palette all the way.
Makeupaholic: This is a tough one as I’m an eyeshadow hoarder! I couldn’t pick just one so it would have to be the Naked Palette 1 & 2.
Revolver Fashion: urban decay naked pallete 2, I use it every single day, you can create so many looks with it, I just wish I hadnt lost the brush from it haha!
NotJustInside: Naked 2: Love all the shades they’re very wearable
Trickling Beauty: Mac Satin Taupe (the most versatile colour)
Bullet to the Head: inglot
Behind Green Eyes: Inglot. Again, I wore Inglot on my wedding day and it lasted for ages. The colour payoff is fab & you can build up a palette at a great price.
Lola Rose: MAC Woodwinked My go to eyeshadow, for all over lid or for the inner corner
Fashion Turn: NARS Night Series Palette. I love this palette for use when travelling, as it combines 6 perfect shadows to create a combination of night time looks with!
Very Lovely Stuff: Urban Decay Naked palette – I put off buying this until mid-2012 and I seriously regret it. I’m a big fan of neutral eyes, but I also love more dramatic looks and this palette has me covered for EVERYTHING.
Nurse Fancy Pants: Naked 1. Use it every day, such a versatile palette.
Scatterbrained: Naked 2 palette
Best Eyeliner
Makeup Monster: Urban Decay Perversion – Black as night, soft as butter and 100% cruelty-free
Fluff & Fripperies: NARS Stylos – really pigmented, longlasting and easy to use
Girl Friday: Inglot gel liners – particularly the black (#77). These liners are pretty much budge-proof even on the waterline one they have set. Like all eyeliners they dry out overtime but I’ve invested in Duraline (also from Inglot) and it restores them easily.
Princess Watshername: No7 Amazing eyes pencil in Brown because it blends perfectly and gives a softened yet defined look; it’s also what I use to darken my freckles.
Robyn Rants: Maybelline Gel Eyeliner - It’s pigmented, easy to use and it lasts. What more do you want.
Glamour Nazi: Inglot Gel Liner - This waterproof gel liner comes in the blackest black shade I’ve ever used and the matte finish means there’s no shine like with most liquids. The waterproof formula means you can use it on the waterline and it doesn’t budge all day. This is flake, smudge and rub proof. It’s only flaw is in trying to remove it! Not a complaint.
Rara Giggle: 24/7 Glide on eyeliner pencils from Urban Decay. Comes in a huge selection of fun & funky colours and are so soft to use, no dragging.
Your Beauty: Lancome Artliner in black, deep black and very easy to use.
Makeupaholic: I’m not a huge fan of eyeliner, I usually only wear it on nights out but I’ve been wearing the Rimmel nude eyeliner quite a bit lately!
Revolver Fashion: Essence liquid eyeliner, cheap and cheerful but it has more staying power than any other liquid eyeliner I’ve ever used!
NotJustInside: Urban Decay 24hr glide on pencils: I have 2 of these, a brown and a black and they are amazing, super soft and ..eh… glidey.. they also stay put for ages and are waterproof.
Trickling Beauty: Mac Teddy pencil (wear it every day, the perfect brown)
Bullet to the Head: gel eyeliner by essence
Behind Green Eyes: GOSH Velvet Touch. I’ve been using GOSH liners for years & I have yet to find one that lasts as long on me.
Lola Rose: Inglot Gel Liner I love the wet look of this liner and the lasting power is unbelievable
Fashion Turn: Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner. Inexpensive product, easy and creamy to apply and lasts all day without budging.
Very Lovely Stuff: Loreal Gel Intenza Eyeliner – I used to stick to liquid eyeliner, but my cat-flicks weren’t as dramatic as I wanted. Step in this gel liner. It’s black, easy to apply and last quite well. That said, I’d like to to dry a bit quicker.
Nurse Fancy Pants: Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Longlasting eyeliner. Applies accurately but not as harsh looking as liquid eyeliner, smudge proof.
Scatterbrained: Rimmel Waterproof or Maybeline Gel eyeliner
Best Brow Product
Makeup Monster: I’m obsessed with my Shu Uemura Brow Pencil in Seal Brown which is the perfect taupe brown shade (without any red undertones) and will last literally years.
Fluff & Fripperies: Soap and Glory Archery – with a pencil on one end and a felt tip pen on the other this gives the best of both worlds
Girl Friday: When Glossybox first came to Ireland I immediately subscribed. In one of the first boxes I received a fabulous HD Brows palette and its my ‘go to’ for doing my brows now.
Princess Watshername: Essence brow powder because the colours are perfect for brows and stay on really well
Robyn Rants: Another easy to use little box from Benefit, another sweep it on and it’s done one.
Rara Giggle: Catrice’s eyebrow pencil. Inexpensive, does a great job!
Your Beauty: Benefit Brow Kit – love the tinted wax, makes my brows more defined and natural.
Makeupaholic: Catrice Brow Pencil. This is a great inexpensive dupe for the Mac brow pencils! It also comes with a spoolie so it saves some space in your makeup bag.
Revolver Fashion: Urban decay brow box, Everything you need in one cute little box!
NotJustInside: Avon Glimmerstick brow definer: this is a waxy sort of crayon pencil and its just the most long lasting and pigmented brow pencil I have ever used.
Trickling Beauty: Carter Beauty eyebrow palette (great shades, very natural finish)
Bullet to the Head: rimmel brow pencil
Behind Green Eyes: Catrice Brow Kit. I always define my brows with powder and both shades in this kit are excellent, as is the mini taming brush.
Lola Rose: No.7 Brow Set I just received this for Christmas and I can’t get enough of it it comes with powder for brown black or fair brows and even a highlighter for under the brow
Fashion Turn: Illamasqua Brow Cake. The specific colour I use, Motto, is a warm taupe for blondes, easy to apply with an angled brush, and stays all day.
Very Lovely Stuff: Bobbi Brown Brow Pencil in Wheat – My eyebrows have always been pale, and I couldn’t find anything to define them. This pencil was the first to give me brows a slight bit of colour without looking too harsh. The price is high, but after trying to use cheaper alternatives, I need to pick this up again.
Nurse Fancy Pants: Rimmel eyebrow pencil/Sleek eyebrow kit. Both work really well and great value.
Scatterbrained: Catrice brow pencil
Best Mascara
Makeup Monster: At the moment all my love is going to ARTDECO’s Amazing Effect Mascara which gives me a similar effect to Benefit’s They’re Real without the dryness or clumpiness.
Fluff & Fripperies: Lancome Hypnose Drama never disappoints – volume, curl, length, it does it all
Too Many Muffins: Best Mascara Clinique High Impact Mascara. My to go to mascara for years. Great for my sensitive eyes.
Girl Friday: Benefit Badgal mascara will always have a special place in my heart. I love the brush and how black and voluminous it makes my lashes look.
Princess Watshername: Make up forever aqua smokey lash because it is seriously waterproof and makes my lashes look all long and separated
Robyn Rants: This really does give va va voom to your lashes, even if it can be a little difficult to get the technique at first.
Glamour Nazi: Bourjois Volume Fast and Perfect - This mascara comes with a battery-operated rotating brush which I believe to be completely gimmicky. The formula however is amazing – pitch black, thick, long, bold lashes is what it will help you achieve. Not for fans of the natural look.
Rara Giggle: They’re Real from Benefit, makes my lashes look so long and gives them volume without the spider eye effect.
Your Beauty: Lancome Precious Cells, conditions my lashes and gives a defined, natural look for everyday business.
Makeupaholic: La Roche Posay Respectissime Ultra Doux. This is my everyday mascara, it gives great length & curl without smudging or irritating my eyes!
Revolver Fashion: Benefit Bad gal, its the only mascara I use, I like the smoky eye look and this compliments it perfectly.
NotJustInside: YSL Shocking: Makes Lashes SUPER long and soooo Black, almost like a false lash effect
Trickling Beauty: Armani: Eyes to Kill (nothing compares for length and drama)
Bullet to the Head: Benefit they’re real
Behind Green Eyes: Collection 2000 Collagen Curl. It won’t give you falsies, but it gives really good coverage & curl without clumping or flaking.
Lola Rose: L’oreal Telescopic it is the best mascara I have ever used it separates the lashes, lengthens and doesn’t clog. Perfect!
Fashion Turn: L’Oreal Falsh Lash Effect. Amazing volume, intense black colour, great product!
Very Lovely Stuff: Loreal Voluminous x4 – This mascara doesn’t actually out-perform others – But it does everything, very well. It gives me volume, curl, length & colour which are all things I need with my measly lashes.
Nurse Fancy Pants: YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking, really does result in a false lash effect, doesn’t flake off and is easy to remove.
Scatterbrained: Benefit They’re Real
