Hello lovely readers, a little post today to show you some new pink shades on the market to perk up our frozen, chapped lips! On the cards today are offerings from Laura Mercier, Lush and BUFF Makeup.
I’d seen some positive reviews of BUFF Makeup creeping up on the beauty blogs so was delighted when an envelope popped in my door with the two above products to play with! To fill you in, BUFF Makeup comes from the combined experience of Hession Hairdressing and acclaimed makeup artist Paula Callan and alongside their beauty line, a BUFF Makeup Suite has now opened up in Clontarf, exciting!
But now back to the products, both of which retail for €18. First up, there’s a frosted pink gloss called Nibble which I thought I wasn’t going to be crazy on but once I applied it I really liked how it looked. It’s very glossy without being tacky and gives a nice shot of pink without looking too Barbie-like.
I also tried one of the lipsticks in ‘Dolce’. Now to be truthful, I’m not a lipstick girl. I have endless pots and tubes of lipgloss and balm planted around the house but I very rarely buy any lippies. Dolce, however, is no ordinary lipstick, it acts like a proper balm and gives a juicy burst of sheer colour to the lips. I’d easily wear this every day and be very happy. I think the prices may be a tad high for BUFF but I have to say I was impressed with the products and would be interested to get a feel for the rest of the line.
Next up, a new Spring colour from the lovely Laura Mercier. Antique Pink is from the Créme Smooth Lip Colours range and is a full coverage dark pink shade that goes on creamy and slightly glossy with a beautiful burst of colour. This feels and looks expensive and I adored the finish on my lips, the pink shade was really vibrant and yet understated. This was my first taste of a Laura Mercier lipstick and I can’t fault it even though it’s more pricey. Speaking of which, I don’t have the exact price to hand in euros but they retail in the €20 – €25 region. A big budget buy, but well worth the swatch next time you’re passing a stand or mooching online.
Finally, Lush have some lovely Valentine’s inspired offerings coming our way, including this very cute little pink tin of fragrant balm that seriously moisturises while offering a frosted pink sheen. As I said earlier, I’m not crazy on frosted pinks so would prefer a true pink shade but it’s a lovely little gift and will keep your lips in good shape for a budget friendly €7.25.
So what’s the winning product for me? I liked everything, but for me Laura Mercier wins hands down for the sheer beauty and quality of her lipstick. Now you can see the swatches below for yourself and make up your own mind!
So, are any of these pinks tickling your fancy? Share your thoughts!
