Essence are frickin’ awesome. We went into Pennys yesterday on Mary Street and were met with the most beautiful stand of endless nail varnishes, eyeshadows and all other sorts of random goodies you never discover on any other stand. Basically I was spoilt rotten for choice! So how excited was I when I spotted the product I’d been lusting over for many, many months – their Volumizing Lash Powder! It was in my basket at lightening speed along with some other beautiful looking goodies and as soon as I was home I had to try it (and my other buys) out!
Firstly, I was fairly restrained but think I chose well. I chose a gorgeous little mini set of lipglosses that go by cities (I chose London) and all three shades were beautiful on, giving the right mix of pinky colour and sheen. I’ll definitely be buying these again and any others in the collection probably!
I also picked up an amazing topcoat , Circus Confetti, as it was simply too glittery and pretty to pass up. There’s some other gorgeous topcoats as a lot of you may know so I’ll be hotfooting it back there shortly to pick up more! Have to say I love this and it suits every colour of varnish! I also picked up their gel topcoat but haven’t tried that out yet so will review shortly.
But to the volumizing lash powder. This was a little trickier to use than I thought it would be, but I can’t argue that it does add some oomph to my lashes. In the kit you get a mascara wand and the little jar of fibre lashes which feel almost like a cotton ball when you stick your finger in.
So how does it work? Taking your regular mascara ( I used my newly repurchased I love Exteme Volume Mascara) you apply as normal and then while the product is still wet on your lashes, use the clean wand which comes with the kit to dip into the jar of fibre lashes. You need to apply the fibres reasonably liberally to your lashes to ensure they’re all coated but work fast. Then turn to your regular mascara again and apply another coat to hide any of the whiteness from the lashes. That’s it! It’s a little fiddly but I definitely liked the results and while this shouldn’t be attempted half asleep while you’re rushing before work, it’s a definite for night’s out or when you have a little more time!
So, as I’m in a very jolly humour as I made it into the final for the Blog Awards Ireland and my boyfriend got some fabulous results and is now officially a qualified primary school teacher I picked up some duplicates of my purchased goodies to give away!
For one lucky winner I have:
