I was just thinking about varnishes as I was taking the pictures for this post and realised something – I’ve never actually finished a nail varnish. Even polishes I’ve loved have ended up separating and turning into a gloopy mess long before I’ve hit the bottom of the bottle.
So with that in mind, I’m beginning to believe that miniatures are the way to go. More varnishes, less waste and less money down the drain. OPI are very smart operators and understand that offering their collections in mini versions is the quickest way to a girl’s purse strings.
As soon as I saw the Minnie Mouse collection, long before it came out, I knew I wanted it. OPI must thrive on people like me who covet a collection simply because it’s fronted by a cute idea or character. It may seem silly, but it works and the flirty collection of pinks and reds, all backed by the cutest mouse on the block was a sure-fire winner for me.
The Vintage Minnie Mini’s collection (even the name is cute) contains 3 of the 4 shades in the collection, along with a lovely little topcoat to keep you nails looking their best.
Now firstly, the varnish from the collection I want the most (and plan to get) is Nothin’ Mousie about it, an incredible girly pink topcoat filled with little hearts. The child in me gets all giddy looking at this but I had to accept it was a bit too much hassle to make in a smaller version for the mini’s collection and I’ll have to get that another time.
The Minnie Mini’s collection is €18.41 on ASOS, while one full size varnish is €15.64 meaning money wise it’s a no brainer to get the small version and see which shades really tickle your fancy.
So to the lovely shades on offer! Firstly, we have a true red shade shot through with a red shimmer called The Colour of Minnie. I’m not big on red shades but this is light and bright enough to be really wearable and I’d happily use this for night’s out.
Secondly, there’s If You Moust You Moust which is a matte pink shade that I’d get a huge amount of wear out of. If you love your pink shades, you’ll really dig this one.
Finally for the colours, there’s I’m All Ears which is my favourite from the collection. This is a dark pink shade filled with very fine pink shimmer that looks super cute on, so much so I donned it for the entire Electric Picnic festival (although it was a bit grotty by day 3).
The wearability is decent with the topcoat, but after a few days there was some definite chipping. Still, I’m in love with this cute colllection and will get great wear out of all the shades. If you love your pretty shades, definitely check this one out!
