I’ll admit it, I can’t wait for Autumn. As beautiful as summer is, there’s something about walking on a cool, sunny day all wrapped up in Autumn clothes while the windswept trees shed their leaves that makes me very, very happy. Luckily, the makeup world is also looking ahead to Autumn with their latest collections, including YSL.
The colours of Autumn are reflected in the new collection with khaki, gold, green and red. It all looks as sumptuous and beautiful as you would expect for the brand and I was lucky enough to be able to sample two pieces from the collection, including the new limited edition Dare to Glow illuminators.
Firstly, the lippie. This is a matte lipstick, something I loved the sound of. Shade #203 is a bright, rich red. I can appreciate any lippie, however daring, although when it comes to everyday life, I’m a pink and neutral kinda gal. At €32, you buy this because you want a little bit extra with your purchase. The packaging offers that alone with a sculpted reflective gold container embossed with the YSL logo. The lippie itself is a beautiful thing to behold, the kind of red you think Marilyn Monroe would have fallen instantly in love with. It glides on effortlessly, giving a soft satin finish that’s gorgeous on.
The Dare to Glow Illuminator (€40) comes in 3 shades, I tried fatal red which gives a dark shot of radiance to the skin. It’s a little too dark for my skintone but does blend out very easily so would suit most skin tones. This is lovely on, although I still prefer Watts Up by Benefit or my Soap & Glory Powder highlighter. Still, I could see girls falling in love with this so it’s well worth a swatch.
