I’m all about the eyes – give me neutral eyeshadows galore, smokey liners and loads of lashes.
After realising my beloved Max Factor mascara wasn’t cruelty free, a long search has ensued to find a worthy successor. Many have been bowing at the alter of Benefit and They’re Real but, equally, I’d heard amazing things about Essence I love Extreme Volume Mascara.
One is over €20, one under €4. So, weighing up the pros and cons, and checking out the state of my bank balance, I decided I’d much rather shell out the smaller amount of money first and see what the Essence mascara was all about.
Well to cut a long story short, I still haven’t tried They’re Real because, for the last month or so, I’ve been hooked on this. The colossal brush takes a little getting used to but after a few days I knew I’d found my new mascara.
This gives volume, hold, and big glossy lashes that will last the day with ease. It takes a little getting used to to avoid your lashes getting a little clumpy in parts but genuinely once you’ve gotten accustomed to this brush you won’t look back. I also found that giving it a few days to dry out a little does wonders for it.
I did find the bottom lashes migrate a tiny bit onto my skin throughout the day but I’ve actually started wearing waterproof on my lower lashes with any mascara to avoid this problem altogether. Any cheap, decent waterproof mascara will do as it’s just for the lower lashes and it means you can enjoy your favourite one on the top lashes where all the magic happens!
To be honest, I’ve hardly anything bad to say about this mascara so will happily sing it’s praises to anyone who’ll listen. It’s cruelty free, cheap as chips and does a better job than mascara’s 5 times the price! Girls, you’d be mad not to try it!
