Benefit are such a fun brand with a great range of products, but they’re also higher end and with that comes a decent price tag. With me, this often means I’ll put off shelling out €30 unless it’s something I’m really excited about, but ASOS have cleverly thought of a solution. I was delighted when I discovered the site have brought out two exclusive trio boxes. For the price of a normal full size product, you get that and two fab sample size products, all in a nifty little presentation box. There are two boxes on offer, both of which I was lucky enough to try out for the site!
Firstly That Gal. I’m very picky when it comes to primers so was looking forward to trying this out. In the trio pack (€29.19) you get a full size That Gal, along with The Porefessional primer and a sample of the new Sunbeam highlighter. Firstly, the packaging is really cute and girly so I’d happily give this as a present to any fellow makeup junkie.
That Gal comes exactly how you’d buy it in the shops and crucially, the two sample size products are in nifty little boxes with cute packaging that elevates them from regular sample size products. On looks, these are a total winner. So how do the products stack up?
That Gal is a mild brightening primer that doesn’t feel too wet on the skin and does offer a little brightening, although I like that they’ve also stuck a more heavy duty primer sample into the box as I would use this alongside another primer rather than alone.
The porefessional is a decent primer for blurring pores and providing a soft matte finish to the skin and while it isn’t the best primer I’ve ever tried, it’s definitely a popular choice for a lot of people. Sunbeam is a gorgeous little highlighter that would be really striking on darker skin tones.
The Hoola trio (€31.90) is my favourite of the two though. In this little box of prettiness you get a full size Hoola bronzer, as well as Cha Cha Tint and Watts Up highlighter.
Hoola comes with the much loved matte brown bronzer. Now I don’t really use bronzers day to day cause I like to look pale but found this nice for contouring. It comes with a handy little mirror, decent brush and magnetised closer so it’s great to pop in your bag.
The two sample goodies that come with this set are also fantastic. I really like Cha Cha Tint, it’s a great mango liquid tint that gives a gorgeous pop of colour on the lips or on the cheeks.
Similarly, I fell in love with Watts Up. I didn’t realise it came lipstick style packaging and I love that it’s a solid highlighter rather than liquid. It gave a really nice subtle sheen that would work well on all skin tones.
Below you can see from right to left: Hoola Bronzer, Watts Up and Cha Cha Tint.
So in conclusion, this is a brilliant idea and great value. Kudos to ASOS.com for bringing out these fab Benefit boxes, I only hope other brands will see what a great idea they are and follow suit!
